The Glen Ridge High School varsity football lost to undefeated Shabazz, 44-6, Friday night, Oct. 20, at Shabazz Stadium in Newark.
The Ridgers lost their second straight game to move to a 4-3 record. Shabazz improved to 7-0.
Senior running back Joe Marchesano scored on a 1-yard run in the second half for the Ridgers.
GRHS senior quarterback Tyler Liddy completed nine of 20 passes for 150 yards. Junior split end Tyler Strong had two catches for 85 yards; junior split end Simon Low had two catches for 22 yards and senior tight end David Weissenberger had two catches for 18 yards.
Defensively for the Ridgers, Low had 11 tackles from his defensive back position; senior linebacker Max Auborn had eight tackles; senior linebacker Kieran Moran and sophomore DB Brendan Easter each had seven tackles; Marchesano and Jose McCallen-Villafane each had six tackles from their DB positions; and sophomore Colin Ducey posted three tackles.
The Ridgers will host Immaculate Conception of Montclair on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 2 p.m.
