Glen Ridge HS football team looks to regroup after tough loss to MKA

GLEN RIDGE, NJ – The Glen Ridge High School varsity football team dropped a tough 14-10 decision to Montclair Kimberley Academy on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Hurrell Field to move to a 1-2 overall record.

The Ridgers took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter when junior quarterback Tyler Liddy scored on a 1-yard run and senior Matt Myles kicked the extra point.

Myles booted a 32-yard field goal in the second quarter to give the Ridgers a 10-0 halftime lead.

But MKA rallied in the second half. Ben Yanes threw a 76-yard TD pass to Trey Wilson and Dan Romeo kicked the extra point in the third quarter to cut the Ridgers’ lead to 10-7.

With 1:49 left in the fourth quarter, Romeo hit Quinn Meistrich with a game-winning 25-yard TD pass. Romeo kicked the extra point.

MKA moved to a 3-0 record.

The Ridgers will visit Cedar Grove (2-1) on Friday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m.
