Glen Ridge HS football team seeks to get back on winning track

GLEN RIDGE, NJ (updated Tuesday Oct. 25, 1:49 p.m.) – The Glen Ridge High School varsity football team seeks to return to its winning ways when it visits Immaculate Conception on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 1 p.m. in Montclair.

Glen Ridge has a 2-5 record while Immaculate Conception is 3-4.

The Ridgers lost to Shabazz, 20-8, Saturday, Oct. 22, at Hurrell Field for their second straight defeat.

Junior quarterback Tyler Liddy was 14 of 26 passing for 171 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown pass to senior Nick Weber-Zazzu, for the Ridgers.

GRHS was awarded a safety when the ball was snapped over the Shabazz punter and out of the end zone.

Weber-Zazzu finished with four catches for 97 yards. Senior Matt Myles had three catches for 19 yards; senior tight end Owen Fincher had two catches for 31 yards and junior running back Joe Marchesano rushed for 45 yards on 18 carries for GRHS.

Defensively for the Ridgers, senior lineman Quinlan Hood had nine tackles; junior linebacker Max Auborn had eight tackles and an interception; and safety Marchesano, linebacker Fincher and freshman defensive back Jackson Crutchfield each had seven tackles.
