UPDATED: Glen Ridge HS girls’ basketball team wins four games in a row; seeks solid run in ECT

GLEN RIDGE, NJ (updated Tuesday Feb. 6, 11:36 a.m.) – The Glen Ridge High School girls’ varsity basketball team defeated North 13th St. Tech, Caldwell, and Verona to extend its winning streak to four games and improve to a 10-8 record.

Claire McMahon scored 19 points and fellow junior Jenny Lisovicz had 11 points in the 58-8 win at North 13th St. Tech in Newark on Jan. 29. Sophomore Haleigh Pine had seven points; sophomore Michaila Dowd had six points; senior Lindsay Jaiyesimi netted five points and sophomore Macy Weber-Zazzu posted four points.

Glen Ridge defeated Caldwell, 36-22, Jan. 30, at home. McMahon had 13 points and six rebounds; Jaiyesimi had nine points and eight rebounds; Lisovicz posted seven points, five rebounds, and three assists; sophomore Sarah Cullinan had three points and Pine added two points.

McMahon had 16 points and six rebounds in the 25-21 win at Verona on Feb. 1. Lisovicz had four points; Cullinan had three points and Jaiyesimi had two points and four rebounds. The Ridgers avenged a 41-23 loss to Verona on Jan. 9.

The Ridgers hope to make a strong run in the Essex County Tournament. Glen Ridge, seeded 15th, will host No. 18 seed Montclair in the preliminary third round on Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. The winner will visit second-seeded Newark Tech in the first round on Feb. 10. Glen Ridge is 7-2 in its past nine games.
