Glen Ridge HS girls’ lacrosse team gears up for state tournament

GLEN RIDGE – The fourth-seeded Glen Ridge High School girls’ varsity lacrosse team will host 13th-seeded Morristown-Beard in the first round of the state North Jersey Group 1 tournament on May 19 at 4 p.m. at Watsessing Park field.

The winner will face the winner between fifth-seeded Morris Catholic and 12th-seeded New Providence in the quarterfinals on May 24. The semifinals are 26 and the final is June 1.  Mountain Lakes is the No. 1 seed.  Oak Knoll is seeded second and Saddle River Day is the No. 3 seed.

After winning the Essex County Tournament title, the Ridgers lost three straight games, falling to Summit, Montclair and Mountain Lakes. lost at Summit, 17-8, May 10. Juliann Lisovicz had four goals; Colleen Grady had three goals and Galen Lew had one goal in the 17-8 loss at Summit on May 10. GRHS fell at Montclair, 8-7, May 12. Lisovicz posted four goals; and Jennifer Lisovicz, Lew and Grady each had one goal. GRHS lost at Mountain Lakes, 16-6, May 14. Juliann Lisovicz and Claire McMahon each had two goals and Lew and Grady each had one goal.

Lew had four goals and two assists and Juliann Lisovicz also had four goals in the 14-12 home win over Oak Knoll on May 17. Grady had three goals and two assists and Maggie Smith also had three goals. Nicole Eckert made 10 saves. GRHS moved to a 12-6 record.
