Glen Ridge HS girls’ lacrosse team vies for third straight ECT title; will face Montclair in final

GLEN RIDGE, NJ – (updated Tuesday May 1, 1:23 p.m.) – The top-seeded Glen Ridge High School girls’ varsity lacrosse team will vie for its third straight Essex County Tournament championship. The Ridgers will face second-seeded Montclair in the final on Saturday, May 5, at Verona HS at 4 p.m., in a rematch of last year’s ECT final.

The Ridgers have reached the ECT final for the seventh time in the past eight seasons. The Ridgers defeated Montclair this season, winning 14-5, April 23.

Glen Ridge defeated fourth-seeded Montclair Kimberley Academy, 15-4, April 28, at Watsessing Park in the semifinals to improve to 8-4. Gretchen Gilmore had five goals and one assist; Claire McMahon had three goals and one assist; Madison Grady and Jennifer Lisovicz each had two goals and two assists; Charlotte Smith had a goal and an assist; Sarah Looney and Campbell Moriarty each scored a goal and Lily Kinley made six saves.

Gilmore had five goals and two assists and McMahon also netted five goals with one assist in the 18-7 win over Livingston on April 24 in the quarterfinals at Watsessing Park. Lisovicz poured in three goals; Grady had two goals and one assist; and Moriarty, Morgan Connaghan and Smith each added a goal.

McMahon scored seven goals; Gilmore had four goals and six assists and Moriarty had three goals in the 20-14 home win over Saddle River Day on April 26. Looney had two goals and two assists.
