GLEN RIDGE, NJ (updated Tuesday Dec. 6, 12:18 p.m.) – The Glen Ridge High School varsity girls’ soccer team enjoyed another sensational season as the Lady Ridgers won the state North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 tournament championship for the fifth consecutive season and were runner-up for the state Group 1 title for the second year in a row, finishing with a 16-7-1 record under 16th-head coach Oscar Viteri.

The Ridgers featured five players who made All-Super Essex Conference-American Division. Senior Galen Lew made First Team; seniors Olivia Schwern and Colleen Grady made Second Team; and seniors Merritt Davie and Meghan Marhan made Honorable Mention.

Junior goalie Tori Woznick had a solid season, making 126 saves this season with nine shutouts. The midfield was sparked by Colleen Grady and Davie in the middle, along with freshman Tara Feenaghty and junior Liz Hauschild on the outside midfield positions. Senior Leslie Jaiyesimi, and her sister, junior Lindsey Jaiyesimi, were strong up front.

GRHS received solid bench play from sophomores Jessica Muney and Jenny Lisovicz, and seniors Katie Liu and Taylor Kulik. Junior backup keeper Gabby Sanchez was called upon a few times this season and played well.
