GLEN RIDGE, NJ – The 11th-seeded Glen Ridge High School girls’ varsity soccer team upset Mount St. Dominic and defeated Caldwell to advance to the Essex County Tournament semifinals.
The Ridgers upset sixth-seeded Mount St. Dominic, 2-1, in overtime in the round of 16 in the ECT on Oct. 18. Sydney Mansfield scored a goal and assisted on Olivia Hoover’s goal. Ania Prussak also had an assist.
Jenny Lisovicz and Prussak each had two goals in the 6-1 win over No. 14 seed Caldwell in the quarterfinals on Saturday, Oct. 20 at Carteret Park.
Tara Feenaghty had a goal and an assist. Taylor Townson had a goal; Madison Grady had two assists and Prusak also had an assist.
The Ridgers, who won their third straight and improved to a 6-6-1 record, will face second-seeded Nutley in the ECT semifinals doubleheader at Bellevile HS on Oct. 24. The other semifinal pits No. 1 seed West Orange against No. 5 seed Livingston.
The final is Saturday, Oct. 27, at Millburn HS at 3:30 p.m.
GRHS extended its unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1) with the one tie against Livingston, 0-0, Oct. 4.
Caldwell advanced to the quarterfinals with a 1-0 win over No. 3 seed Montclair.
