Glen Ridge HS girls’ soccer team advances to Group 1 state championship game for fourth year in a row

GLEN RIDGE, NJ – The Glen Ridge High School girls’ varsity soccer team advanced to the NJSIAA Group 1 state championship game for the fourth consecutive season.

The Ridgers, who won the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 title for the seventh year in a row, defeated North 1 champion Midland Park, 3-1, in the Group 1 state semifinals on  Nov. 13 at Indian Hills in Oakland.

Sydney Mansfield scored two goals; Olivia Hoover had a goal and Ania Prussak had an assist for the Ridgers, who won their fifth straight game, all in the postseason, to improve to 11-7-2.

The Ridgers will play in the Group 1 state final on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 12:30 p.m. at Kean University in Union against the winner between Shore Regional and Audobon. The Shore-Audobon game will take place Nov. 14.

The Ridgers lost to Shore in each of the past three Group 1 state finals, all at Kean University. They also played Shore in 2012 and 2013 in the Group 1 final, both at The College of New Jersey in Ewing. Glen Ridge won in 2012, while the teams were declared co-champs in 2013 after the game ended in a tie.
