Glen Ridge HS girls’ soccer team advances to North 2, Group 1 state semifinals

GLEN RIDGE, NJ – The six-time defending champion Glen Ridge High School girls’ soccer team defeated Delaware Valley and Whippany Park to advance to the semifinals of the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 state tournament.

Sydney Mansfield scored three goals and fellow sophomore Ania Prussak had two goals to lead the third-seeded Ridgers in the 6-0 win over 14th-seeded Delaware Valley in the first round on Oct. 30 at Watsessing Park.

Junior Taylor Townson also had a goal; junior Madison Grady collected three assists and freshman Olivia Hoover had one assist.

Prussak scored two goals in the 4-1 win over sixth-seeded Whippany Park on Friday, Nov. 2 at Watsessing Park. Mansfield had a goal and two assists; Townson scored a goal; Grady added an assist and freshman Elettra Giantomenico made nine saves.

The Ridgers, who improved to 8-7-2 on the season, will host seventh-seeded Secaucus in the semifinals on Tuesday, Nov. 6. The other semifinal pits No. 1 seed Brearley against No. 5 seed New Providence. The final is Friday, Nov. 9.
