Glen Ridge HS girls’ soccer team falls to MKA in overtime in ECT quarterfinals

GLEN RIDGE, NJ – The fourth-seeded Glen Ridge High School varsity girls’ soccer team lost to fifth-seeded Montclair Kimberley, 2-1, in overtime in the Essex County Tournament quarterfinals at Watsessing Park on Saturday, Oct. 21.

After a scoreless first half, both teams scored a goal in the second half. Lindsey Jaiyesimi scored on an assist from Jessica Muney for the Ridgers, who fell to a 10-3-1 record. Victoria Woznick made 11 saves for GRHS.

It was the Ridgers’ first game in nine days.

GRHS also lost to MKA, 2-1, Oct. 6, at Carteret Park in a Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division game for its second loss of the game. The Ridgers then beat Caldwell, 2-1, Oc.t 10, and Columbia, 2-0, Oct. 12, before losing to MKA in the ECT quarterfinals.
