GLEN RIDGE, NJ — The Glen Ridge High School girls soccer team enjoyed another stellar run.
The Ridgers won their eighth straight North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 state tournament title before losing in the Group 1 semifinals to Mountain Lakes, 4-3, in overtime on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Mountain Lakes. Henna Andican scored her third goal of the game for the winner.
The Ridgers, who finished the season with a 16-8 record, were seeking to reach the Group 1 state final for the fifth straight year. GRHS had won nine straight and 15 of its last 16 games entering the game.
Junior forward Sydney Mansfield, senior midfielder Tara Feenaghty and junior midfielder Ania Prussak scored the goals for the Ridgers.
GRHS junior goalkeeper Olivia Carbonell made five saves.
The game originally was scheduled to be played at neutral site Passaic County Tech on Tuesday, Nov. 12. But due to weather conditions, the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association moved the game to Mountain Lakes, since it was determined prior to the game that Mountain Lakes would be wearing their home jerseys.
