Glen Ridge HS girls’ soccer team improves to 6-1-1

Senior forward Lindsey Jaiyesimi had a hat trick and junior midfielder Jenny Lisovicz had two goals to lead the Glen Ridge High School varsity girls’ soccer team to a 9-2 win over Newark East Side on Sept. 28 in a SEC-Liberty Division game in Newark.

The Ridgers, coming off their first loss of the season, improved to a 6-1-1 record.

Sophomore midfielder Tara Feenaghty had one goal and three assists; sophomore midfielder Gemma Barrata had a goal and an assist; senior midfielder Morgan Connaghan and freshman forward Sydney Mansfield each had a goal and sophomore back Madison Grady had two assists. Sophomore back Samantha Lovit, junior midfielder Jessica Muny and sophomore midfielder Taylor Townson each had an assist. Senior goalies Victoria Woznick and Gabby Sanchez each made three saves.

In the previous game, the Ridgers lost to Montclair, 2-1, Sept. 26, at Watsessing Park in a SEC non-division game. Tied 1-1 at halftime, Montclair scored in the second half to win it. Jaiyesimi scored on an assist from Lovit for the Ridgers.
