GLEN RIDGE, NJ – Katie Liu scored the game-winning goal in overtime on an assist from Galen Lew to lift the eighth-seeded Glen Ridge High School girls’ varsity soccer team to a 3-2 win over ninth-seeded Millburn in the first round of the Essex County Tournament on Oct. 19 at Watsessing Park.
Leslie Jaiyesimi scored on an assist from Liz Hauschild, and Lew scored on an assist from Meghan Marhan for GRHS.
The Lady Ridgers, who won their fourth straight game to move to a 9-5-1 record, will visit top-seeded Livingston in the quarterfinals on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 5 p.m.
The winner will advance to the semifinals on Oct. 26 at Belleville HS against the winner between fifth-seeded Newark Academy and fourth-seeded Columbia.
GRHS lost to Livingston, 1-0, Sept. 21, in Livingston.
