GLEN RIDGE, NJ – Liz Hauschild scored all three goals in the second half as the Glen Ridge High School girls’ varsity soccer team captured its fifth straight state North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 tournament championship with a 3-0 win over Belvidere in the final on Friday, Nov. 11, at Watsessing Park. The Ridgers, who were the No. 2 seed, improved to a 15-6-1 record. Belvidere was seeded fourth.

The Ridgers, under 16th-year head coach Oscar Viteri, will play Park Ridge in the state Group 1 semifinals on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Indian Hills High School in Oakland at 5 p.m.

Indeed, Viteri was proud of his team.

“It was a great effort this year to get us to the sectional final,” said Viteri. “Our scoring has been spread out this year. It’s nice that different people in different games picked up the scoring for us. It was nice.”
