Glen Ridge HS girls tennis team hosts Newark Academy

GLEN RIDGE, NJ — The Glen Ridge High School girls  tennis team hosted Newark Academy at Freeman Courts in Glen Ridge on Friday afternoon, Oct. 1. Newark Academy won, 5-0.

At second singles, GRHS’ Jasmine Schaber lost to Mallika Reddy, 6-0, 6-0. At first doubles, GRHS’ Charlotte Keany and Mia Ehatamm lost to Molly Egan and Joanna Yu, 6-1, 6-2.

At second doubles, GRHS’ Amayah Melbourne and Sarah Gentile lost to Kaya Rajparia and Siyona Bordia, 6-0, 6-0.

The Lady Ridgers are the No. 1 seed in the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 1 tournament and will host No. 8 seed Hanover Park in the quarterfinals on Oct. 5. The winner will face the winner of No. 5 McNair and No. 4 Cedar Grove in the semifinals on Oct.7. The final is Oct. 12.
