GLEN RIDGE, NJ — The first-year Glen Ridge High School girls volleyball team won its first Essex County Tournament match, beating Orange, 25-23, 25-9, Tuesday, Oct. 10, at home. Catie Buntrock had eight kills and five digs, Maddie DeLuca had nine digs and two assists, Ava Tahillani had 17 assists and two digs, Sophia Ostermann had five kills and one dig, Alison Minion had nine digs and three kills, Inari Krabbe had four kills and Maia Deluca had one dig and one assist for the 22nd-seeded Ridgers. Orange was the No. 27 seed.
The Ridgers lost at No. 11 seed Nutley, 25-17, 25-19, in the third preliminary round on Thursday, Oct. 12, to move to a 7-4 overall record.
