Glen Ridge HS golf team gives good effort at state Tournament of Champions

GLEN RIDGE –The Glen Ridge High School varsity golf team finished 22nd out of 24 teams at the state Tournament of Champions held at Hopewell Valley Golf Course on Monday, May 23.

The Ridgers shot 355.

Dean Cerimido, a junior, led the Ridgers with an 81 score (41-40) for an eight-way tie for 55th place.

Seniors Eric Shaara and Jacob Ruiz both shot 91 and sophomore Ryan Twitchell shot 92 for the Ridgers.

In the Group 1 team standings, the Ridgers finished third out of four teams. North Warren was first with a 338 score, followed by Cinnaminson (351), GRHS (355) and Gateway (381).

Bergen Catholic shot a tournament record 284 to win the Tournament of Champions title for the third straight season. Rumson-Fair Haven’s Reid Bedell won the individual title with a 66.

The Ridgers will gear up for the Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division Championship meet,  May 26, at East Orange Golf Course.
