GLEN RIDGE, NJ (corrected Friday June 1, 11:33 a.m.) – Tyler Liddy will represent Glen Ridge High School during the 25th annual Paul Robeson High School All-Star Football Classic on June 14 at Paul Robeson Stadium in East Orange.
The game features graduating seniors. The East All-Star team comprises players from Essex and Hudson counties and the West All-Star team comprises players from Morris, Sussex and Passaic counties.
Liddy, one of two quarterbacks on the East All-Star team, will continue his football career at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.
For the first time in high school football history in New Jersey, the game will also utilize instant replay, which will be used on any calls regarding turnovers and touchdowns. Each team will have two challenges.
In the fall, the high school football season in New Jersey will utilize instant replay for the first time.
This past fall season, Liddy threw for 1,545 yards and 20 touchdowns and also rushed for 315 yards and three scores for the Ridgers to earn First Team honors on the All-North Jersey Super Football Conference-Red Division.
A standout basketball player, Liddy scored his 1,000th career point this past winter season and finished with 1,073 points to earn First Team accolades on the All-Super Essex Conference-Independence Division. The GRHS boys’ basketball team won the SEC-Independence Divsision title, while also finishing runner-up in the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 state tournament for the second straight season.
