GLEN RIDGE – Glen Ridge High School senior Carter Travia signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his swimming career at Fairfield University in Connecticut.
Travia, who specializes in the breast stroke, chose Fairfield over Villanova and Lehigh.
“I’m excited to take my swimming journey to the next level,” said Travia.
Last season, Travia finished second in the 100-meter breast stroke at the Essex County Championships. He also qualified for the state Meet of Champions.
As a member of the Montclair Dolphins, Travia qualified for the YMCA Nationals in Indianapolis in each of the past three years.
Travia also is looking forward to the high school season this winter.
“We have a lot of incoming freshmen. I’m hoping for a positive year. I think we’ll do well,” he said.
