Glen Ridge HS track and field athletes shine at state Group 1 Championships

GLEN RIDGE – Glen Ridge High School track and field athletes gave good efforts at the state Group 1 Championships at Egg Harbor Township, June 3-4.

Owen Tuck, a senior, took third in the boys’ 200-meter dash in 22.08.

Junior Judah Raab, senior Justin Dignan, senior Teandre Russell-Rose and senior Connor Lewis finished fifth in the boys’ 4×400-meter relay  in 3:30.02.

Sophomores Liz Hauschild and Lindsay Jaiyesimi, and junior Olivia Schwern and Victoire Omou finished sixth in the girls’ 4×100 relay in 51.35.

With those top-six finishes, those Ridgers qualified for the state Meet of Champions at Central Regional HS in Bayville on June 8.

The Group Championships consisted of the top six finishers in each event from the state sectionals the previous weekend.

Here are the other GRHS results from the Group Championships:

On the boys’ side, Dignan took 11th (4:32.74) and his twin brother Cameron Dignan took 15th (4:40.78) in the 1,600-meter run. Lewis was 20th in the 400-meter dash (52.18). Seniors Jack Gruhin, Cameron Dignan, Colin Rush; and sophomore David Ogilvie took 20th in the 4×800 in 9:02.08. In the boys’ 800-meter run, Justin Dignan was 15th (2:02.04). Sophomore Jack Looney was 20th in the boys’ 3,200 (10:42.77). Senior Marco Oliveri was 20th in the discus at 109 feet-11 inches.

On the girls’ side, Schwern was 16th in the 100-meter dash (12.92). Sophomore Elizabeth O’Connell finished seventh in both the 1,600 (5:13.65) and 3,200 (11:47.05). Hauschild was 11th in the 800 (2:24.96) and 18th in the 400-meter dash (1:01.47). Omou was 12th in the discus (90-2). Sophomores Jackie Landi and Dana Feenaghty and juniors Taylor Kulik and Alyssa Smolen finished 15th in the 4×800 (11:16.67).
