Glen Ridge HS track and field teams impress at Cougar Classic

GLEN RIDGE – The Glen Ridge High School boys’ and girls’ track and fields gave great efforts at the annual Cougar Classic hosted by Columbia High School at Underhill Field in Maplewood.

Owen Tuck finished second overall out of 24 javelin throwers during the three-person relay. His distance of 121 feet, 9 inches helped the Ridger boys finish sixth out of eight teams in the javelin relay. The other GRHS javelin throwers were Anthony Cali and  Gabe Weir. Their total distance was 249 feet, 11 inches.

Cameron Dignan anchored the distance medley team to a third-place finish out of eight teams. The Ridgers ran a total time of 11:43.08. Jack Looney ran the leadoff 1,200-meters, followed by Connor Lewis in the 400; Justin Dignan in the 800 and Cameron Dignan in the 1,600 anchor.

Elizabeth O’Connell anchored the girls’ varsity sprint medley relay team in a total time of 4:47.39 for fifth place out of seven teams. The leadoff 400 was run by Guiliana Cipriano, followed by Fiona Ihde in the first 200 leg, Dana Feenaghty and O’Connell.

Victoire Omou ran the anchor  leg in the novice girls’ 4×100 relay. The Ridgers took second place out of 13 teams with a 56.08 time. Omou’s teammates were Lili Pugliese, Guiliana Cipriano and Fiona Ihde.
