Glen Ridge HS track and field teams posts fine Essex County meet efforts

GLEN RIDGE – The Glen Ridge High School boys’ and girls’ track and field teams posted good efforts at the Essex County Championships held at Woodman Field in Montclair, May 20-21.

Elizabeth O’Connell finished in fourth place in the 1,600-meter run in 5:21.25 to lead the GRHS girls’ team. O’Connell also took sixth in the 3,200-meter run in 11:45.47.

Liz Hauschild took seventh in the girls’ 800-meter run in 2:25.11. Hauschild also was 17th in the 400-meter dash in 1:01.80.

On the boys’ side, Owen Tuck took third in the 200-meter dash in 22.75. Tuck also placed fifth in the 100-meter dash in 11.27.

Other notable efforts for the Ridgers were Victoire Omou, who took 14th in the girls’ discus at 86 feet-6 inches; Connor Lewis, who was 18th in the boys’ 400-meter dash in 52.13; Justin Digan, who was 12th in the boys’ 1,600 (4:33.78) and 16th in the 800-meter run (2:02.18); the boys’ 4×400-meter relay team that placed 11th in 3:35.11 and Marco Oliveri, who was 19th in the boys’ discus at 109-6.

The GRHS boys’ and girls’ teams will gear up for the state North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 Championships at Madison, May 27-28.
