Glen Ridge HS track standout Liz O’Connell races to State Meet of Champions

GLEN RIDGE, NJ – Glen Ridge High School’s Liz O’Connell finished fourth in the girls’ 3,200-meter run in 11:47.03 and took fifth in the 1,600-meter run in 5:17.81 at the NJSIAA indoor track and field Group 1 State Championships at the Bennett Center in Toms River.

O’Connell, a senior, was the lone female competitor for GRHS.
Zack Debelak, a junior and the lone male competitor for GRHS, finished ninth in the preliminaries of the 55-meter dash in 6.81.

The Group 1 meet consisted of the top six finishers in each event from the section meets.

O’Connell qualified for the NJSIAA State Meet of Champions on Feb. 24 at the Bennett Center. The Meet of Champions consists of the top six finishers in each event, plus wild-card berths, from the Group meets.
