Glen Ridge HS track team excels at SEC meet

GLEN RIDGE – The Glen Ridge High School boys’ indoor track and field team finished fourth overall out of 11 scoring teams in the boys’ team standings at the Super Essex County-Liberty Division Championship meet at Jersey City Armory on Dec. 27.

Here are the GRHS notable results:

In the 800-meter run, Justin Dignan took first place in a time of 2 minutes, 04.26 seconds. In the 1,600-meter run, Cam Dignan took second place in 4:43.37. In the 3,200-meter run, Pelle Nogueira took second place in 10:22.61 and Cam Dignan took fifth place in 10:37.38.

The 4×400-meter relay team took third place in 3:41.71. Owen Tuck, Connor Lewis, Judah Raab and Justin Dignan comprised the unit.

The GRHS girls’ team finished eighth overall in the girls’ team standings out of 10 teams, led by Elizabeth O’Connell, who took second place in the 1,600-meters in 5:51.29.

At the Essex County Relays on Jan. 3 at the Jersey City Armory, the GRHS girls’ distance medley team finished sixth in 14:40.96. The runners on that team were Alyssa Smolen, Taylor Kulik, Jacqueline Landi, and O’Connell.

The GRHS boys’ team also gave good efforts at the meet.
