Glen Ridge HS wrestler Anthony Santigate takes fourth at Essex County Tournament; girls’ basketball team moves to 6-7

GLEN RIDGE – Anthony Santigate finished in fourth place to lead the Glen Ridge High School varsity wrestling team at the Essex County Tournament, Jan. 21-22, at Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange.

Santigate, a junior, forfeited to West Essex’s Marco Macrino in the 126-pound third-place consolation.

Girls’ basketball

Gabby Kinzler scored 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and Claire McMahon had 10 points and nine boards to lead the Glen Ridge High School girls’ varsity basketball team to a 38-19 home win over Newark Central on Jan. 19.

Jenny Lisovicz also had seven points for the Lady Ridgers, who snapped a four-game losing streak. Juliann Lisovicz had two points and four rebounds; Meghan Marhan had three rebounds; Lindsay Jaiyesimi grabbed four rebounds; and Leslie Jaiyesimi and Julia Lawson each had two points.

The Ridgers then fell to Newark Arts, 47-29, Jan. 21, in Newark to move to a 6-7 record.
