GLEN RIDGE, NJ (updated Monday Oct. 10, 11:10 a.m.) – Tyler Liddy passed for 259 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Glen Ridge High School varsity football team to a 45-27 win over Verona on Saturday, Oct. 8, in Verona.
The Ridgers, after trailing 14-7 at the half, scored 17 unanswered points to start the fourth quarter to break a 21-21 tie.
Matt Myles kicked a 24-yard field goal to give the Ridgers a 24-21 lead. Liddy connected with Nick Weber-Zazzu on a 38-yard touchdown pass, followed by Joe Marchesano’s 2-yard touchdown run. Myles kicked the extra points as the Ridgers led 38-21.
The Ridgers broke a two-game losing streak to improve to a 2-3 record. Verona fell to 1-4.
The Ridgers beat Verona for the first time since 2010, breaking a five-game losing streak in the series.
