Verona/Glen Ridge ice hockey team enjoys win streak

VERONA/GLEN RIDGE, NJ — The Verona/Glen Ridge high school ice hockey team won three straight games, beating Cranford, Nutley and Oratory Prep to improve to 8-4 on the season.

GR sophomore Zach Gold had a goal and two assists and GR freshman Will Benson had a goal and an assist in the 7-4 win over Cranford Jan. 11 at Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange. Verona junior Vincent Eremita, GR junior Alec Vecchione, Verona sophomore Dominick Pandiscia and GR freshman Rowan Brennan each had a goal, and Jeff Egan had an assist. GR senior Chris Kostas made 25 saves.

Gold scored twice in the 3-0 win over Nutley-Columbia Jan. 12 at Codey Arena. GR freshman Ryan Weissman had the other goal and Benson had two assists. Kostas made 22 saves for the shutout.
Gold had one goal and two assists and Aidan Brennan had one goal and one assist in the 5-1 win over Oratory Prep Jan. 17 at Union Sports Arena. GR senior Noah Martinez, Pandiscia and Rowan Brennan each had a goal and Vecchione had two assists.
