Verona/Glen Ridge ice hockey team falls in Kelly Cup semifinals

GLEN RIDGE, NJ – The third-seeded Verona/Glen Ridge high school ice hockey team advanced to the Kelly Cup semifinals, but lost to second-seeded Millburn, 6-0, Monday, Feb. 11, at Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange. Verona/Glen Ridge moved to a 13-8-4 record.

In the quarterfinals, Verona/Glen Ridge defeated sixth-seeded Bayonne, 5-0, Friday, Feb. 8 at Codey Arena. Glen Ridge junior Aidan Brennan scored two goals; Glen Ridge freshman Nolan Campbell, Glen Ridge senior Andrew Martell and Glen Ridge junior Alec Vecchione each had a goal; Verona senior Jarrod Keating had three assists; Glen Ridge junior Noah Martinez had two assists and Glen Ridge junior Jeff Egan, Verona senior Harrison Keating and Glen Ridge Ruben Rodriguez each had one assist.

Glen Ridge junior goalie Chris Kostas made 18 saves.
