Verona/Glen Ridge hs ice hockey team downs foes to improve to 10-6-1

GLEN RIDGE – The Verona/Glen Ridge high school varsity ice hockey team defeated Pascack Valley and Livingston last week.

Glen Ridge freshman Jake Kuhn had two goals and one assist and Glen Ridge senior assistant captain Owen Gleeson scored twice in the 7-3 win over Pascack Valley on Friday, Jan. 15, at Sport-O-Rama in Monsey, N.Y. Glen Ridge senior captain Stephen Wenzl had one goal and two assists; Verona freshman Jarrod Keating had one goal and one assist; Glen Ridge junior Steven Topping added one goal; Verona senior Kevin White contributed two assists; Verona sophomore Sean DeCandia chipped in one assist and Verona senior Liam Blaney made 21 saves.

White scored two goals and added one assist and Kuhn also had two goals in the 5-3 win over Livingston on Jan. 16 at Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange. Topping had one goal and one assist; Gleeson, Keating, Glen Ridge sophomore Anton Martino, and Wenzl each had one assist and Blaney made 42 saves as Verona/Glen Ridge won its third straight to improve to a 10-6-1 record.  Verona/Glen Ridge is 8-2 in the last 10 games.
