IRVINGTON, NJ – Dwight Henry and Andrea Jackson captured first place in their respective events to lead the Irvington High School boys and girls indoor track and field teams at the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 State Championships at the Bennett Center in Toms River, Feb. 10.
Henry won the boys 55-meter hurdles in 7.65. He also took second in the 55-meter dash in 6.7.
Also for the IHS boys team, Desmond Marfo took sixth place in the 800-meters in 2:03.25; Matthias Litus took fifth place in the high jump at 5 feet-8 inches; and Jared Maniford, Marfo, Litus and Henry took second in the 4×400-meter relay in 3:31.
Jackson won the girls 55-meter hurdles in 8.71.
Based on those top-six finishes, the IHS boys team took fourth and the girls team took ninth in their respective standings.
The IHS athletes also qualified for the Group 3 State Championships, Feb. 16 at the Bennett Center, based on those top-six finishes.
