IRVINGTON, NJ – The Irvington Golden Knights football program is getting ready for the upcoming season this fall.

The Golden Knights have been practicing at Orange Park this summer, Mondays through Fridays, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The program has several levels for boys ages 5-13.

Kyle Steele has been the president of the Golden Knights for several years. Steele also coaches the Junior Pee Wees, ages 10-11. In addition, Steele, a 1996 Irvington High School graduate, is an assistant coach for the IHS football program and the IHS head wrestling coach.

The Golden Knights, who compete in the Newark Pop Warner League, will begin their seasons in late August. The schedules have yet to be released.

Last season, the Mighty Mites, ages 8-9, captured the state championship. The Mighty Mites coaches are James Evans and Bernard Antwi, both IHS alumni.

Anyone interested in joining the Golden Knights football and cheerleading teams can show up at Orange Park during practice times.
