Irvington Golden Knights football program prepares for upcoming season

IRVINGTON, NJ – The Irvington Golden Knights Football and Cheerleading teams have started practicing to prepare for the 2018 season.

Boys and girls ages 5-13 are encouraged to sign up for the teams.

Football practices are taking place Mondays through Fridays from 6 to 8 p.m. at Orange Park in Irvington.

Cheerleaders practice Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6 to 8 p.m. at Irvington High School.

Last season, the Golden Knights had a lot of highlights.

The Tiny Mites (ages 6 and 7), known as the “Money Team,” went undefeated and were honored as state champions.

The Knights Junior Varsity (ages 13) represented the Newark Pop Warner League as league champions in the regional playoffs.

The Golden Knights had every level represented in the championship games.

The Mighty Mites (ages 8 and 9) also won a division championship.

Kyle Steele is the president of the Golden Knights and coached the Mighty Mites last year. He is also an IHS assistant football coach and the IHS head wrestling coach.

The Golden Knights welcome football and cheerleading sign-ups at any of their practices.
