Irvington Golden Knights football teams roll into championship games

IRVINGTON, NJ – It was another great week for the Irvington Golden Knights football program as all of the competing teams won.

The GK Flag (ages 5-6) ended their season with a win over the Jackie Robinson Bears in the Pumpkin Bowl.

The Tiny Mites, a.k.a. “The Money Team” (ages 6-7), remained undefeated with a 14-0 win over New Brunswick in their Pumpkin Bowl game. The Money Team has outscored their opponents, 164-0, in seven games.

The Mitey Mites  (ages 8-9) remained undefeated with a 28-0 win over the Jackie Robinson Bears in the semiinals of the playoffs.

The Junior Pee Wees completed the GK sweep with a 19-0 victory over the Central Ward Blue Devils. Both teams advance to the Newark Pop Warner League Championships on Sunday, Oct. 29, joining the Pee Wee (ages 12) and Junior Varsity  (ages 13) teams who had byes into the championship game.

Sunday’s championship schedule is Mitey Mites vs. Central Ward Titans at 10:30 a.m., Junior Pee Wee vs. Central Ward Titans at noon, Pee Wee vs. Central Ward Blue Devils at 1:30 p.m. and Junior Varsity vs. Central Ward Blue Devils at 3 p.m. Games will be held at Weequahic High School’s Unterman Field in Newark.
