Irvington HS Athletic Hall of Fame holds induction ceremony

IRVINGTON, NJ – The Irvington High School Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place Thursday, May 10, at IHS.

The following were inducted in these categories:

MODERN PLAYER
• Ramadan Brunson, boys’ basketball, 1990-93. He was an All-State point guard.

HISTORICAL PLAYER
• Terence McSherry, football, 1940-44. He was the TD leader for the team in 1942 and 1943.

COACH
• Marvin Hawkins, current head coach for boys’ outdoor track, boys’ and girls’ indoor track, and boys’ and girls’ cross-country, 18 seasons. He has coached several individual and team champions.

HIGHEST VOTE TOTAL
• Alshermond Singleton, football, 1990-93. He played in the NFL and was on the Super Bowl-winning Tampa Bay Buccaneers team.

TEAM
• 1992-93 boys’ basketball team. The team, under head coach Kurt Fenchel, won the Group 4 State Championship.

This was the first induction of the IHS Athletic Hall of Fame since 1992. The IHS Hall of Fame was revived thanks to the efforts of first-year IHS Athletic Director Dr. John Taylor.
