HILLSIDE, NJ — The Irvington High School boys basketball team improved to 4-0 on the season after winning the 57th annual Joe Silver Holiday Tournament championship in Hillside for the second year in a row.
The Blue Knights defeated Marion P. Charter, East Orange Campus and Hillside to win the tournament.

The Blue Knights defeated West Orange, 71-52, Dec. 20, at home in the season opener. Senior guard Karriem Thomas had 23 points, senior forward Moses Pierre had 12 points and eight rebounds, senior guard Kymani Dunbar had 12 points and nine rebounds, junior forward JhaZaire Head posted 10 points and seven rebounds and senior guard Nazameir Brooks added five points.
In the first round of the Joe Silver Holiday tournament, IHS defeated Marion P. Charter, 83-60, Dec. 26. Brooks had 14 points and five steals, Pierre had 13 points and 10 rebounds, senior guard Dezlyn Sebastien had 13 points, senior forward Kyle Benson posted 10 points and 10 rebounds, Dunbar recorded eight points, eight rebounds, six assists and six steals and Head had eight points and seven rebounds.
In the semifinals, Thomas had 16 points and Pierre had 16 points and 12 rebounds in the 58-53 win over East Orange Campus on Dec. 27.Head had seven points, Dunbar had six points and four rebounds, Sebastien had five points and Benson had five points, six rebounds and three blocks.
Thomas scored 20 points, Pierre had 16 points and Dunbar added 13 points to lead the Blue Knights to a 71-49 win over host Hillside in the championship game on Monday, Dec. 30.
