IRVINGTON, NJ – The Irvington High School boys’ shuttle hurdle relay team placed 17th at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals held at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C. on June 16.
The relay team clocked 1:02.8.
Sophomore Dwight Henry split 15.0; senior Brian Fisher split 16.1; junior Cordell Litus split 16.79 and senior Tavaughn Whyte split 14.6.
This spring season, the Blue Knights, under head coach Marvin Hawkins, finished with an 8-3 record, including 6-2 in the Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division.
Henry won the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash at the SEC-Liberty Division Championship meet.
The 4×400-meter relay team of Michael Veltz, Keano Fearon, Desmond Marfo and Devin Seward won its heat at the Penn Relays held at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
The 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams qualified for the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Group 3 State Championships. The 4×100 relay did so for the first time.
Fearon, a senior competing in his first track season, placed second in the 400 dash with a time of 49.92 at the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 Championships.
