IRVINGTON, NJ – Joseph Stoichkov scored the lone goal to lift the 18th-seeded Irvington High School varsity boys’ soccer team to a 1-0 win over No. 27 seed Shabazz in the first preliminary round of the Essex County Tournament at IHS on Oct. 14. Frank Peprah had the assist on the goal as the Blue Knights won their fifth straight game to improve to a 9-5-1 record.
The Blue Knights were scheduled to visit No. 15 seed Belleville in the second preliminary round on Oct. 17. The winner will visit No. 2 seed Montclair in the first round on or by Oct. 19.
