Irvington HS boys’ soccer team boasts 7 players on the All-SEC-Colonial

IRVINGTON, NJ – The Irvington High School boys’ varsity soccer team, which won the Super Essex Conference-Colonial Division title with a 7-1 divisional record this fall, boasted seven players who earned All-SEC-Colonial honors.

They include:

FIRST TEAM

  • Stoichkov Joseph, senior
  • Jean Kemser Desidor, junior
  • Stanley Innocent, senior

SECOND TEAM

  • Steevens Lee Altidor, junior
  • Costadinov Joseph, sophomore
  • Loubens Alexandre, junior

HONORABLE MENTION

  • Prince Pierresaint, sophomore goalie.

The Blue Knights, under head coach Abdelkader Laib, advanced to the Essex County Tournament round of 16 where they nearly upset No. 1 seed and unbeaten Montclair, but came up short, 4-3, Oct. 18. Montclair went on to win the ECT title. Irvington was the No. 16 seed.

Irvington then earned the No. 1 seed in the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 state tournament. The Blue Knights defeated No. 16 seed Payne Tech, 7-1, Oct. 29, in the first round, but lost to No. 9 seed Cliffside Park, 5-3, Nov. 1, in the quarterfinals, both at home, to finish with a stellar 11-4-2 overall record.

Stoichkov Joseph emerged as one of the top scorers in the area. He scored 24 goals to go along with eight assists. Costadinov Joseph also was outstanding as he posted 11 goals and five goals this season.
