Irvington HS boys’ track and field team takes second place at SEC Championships

IRVINGTON, NJ – The Irvington High School boys’ indoor track and field team finished in second place in the team standings at the Super Essex Conference-American Division Championships held at Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, N.Y., Saturday, Dec. 22.

The Blue Knights had 49 team points.

Desmond Marfo won the 800-meter run in 2:00.31 and won the 1,600-meter run in 4:45.30. He is the first IHS track athlete to win the 800 and 1,600 in the same conference meet.

Dwight Henry won the 55-meter hurdles in 7.76.

Other IHS boys’ place-finishers:

Henry, 200 meters, second place, 22.8.

Cordell Litus, 55 hurdles, sixth place, 9.04.

Jared Manifold, Cordell Litus, Matthias Litus, Devin Seward, 4×400 relay, second place, 3:35.9.

On the girls’ side, Irvington placed seventh in the team standings.

Andrea Jackson won the 55 hurdles in 8.74.

Since 1991, IHS now has 272 individual championships.
