IRVINGTON, NJ – Though the boys finished with a 2-7 record and the girls were 1-7, the Irvington High School cross-country teams had some individual success and gained valuable experience.

The boys were led by junior Michael Veltz (18:50) and sophomore Desmond Marfo (19:24). The girls were led by senior Anathalie Thelemaque (26:59), who had three individual wins and junior Khdeejah Hughes (26:38), said IHS head coach Marvin Hawkins.

On the plus side, the entire boys’ team returns next year and all of the girls, except for Thelemaque, Hawkins said.

Freshman Berline Julien (28:34) is a rising star, notd Hawkins. Veltz, Marfo, Thelemaque, Hughes, and William Lugo-Ramirez were named Honorable Mention for the Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division.
