Irvington HS football team posts third straight shutout; wins divisional title for third year in a row

IRVINGTON, NJ — The Irvington High School football team defeated Barringer, 42-0, Saturday, Oct. 26, at Schools Stadium in Newark for its third straight shutout win.

The Blue Knights,who improved to 6-2, also clinched the Super Football Conference-Freedom White Division for the third straight season in the four-year existence of the conference. In each of the past three seasons, the Blue Knights finished undefeated in the division. They have won 13 straight divisional games, going 5-0 in 2017, and 4-0 last year and this year.

In the win over Barringer, IHS quarterback Jake Harter completed 10 of 14 passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns; Zahir Swann caught seven passes for 143 yards and the three scores; Renaud Clerving had two catches for 33 yards; Taiyon Battle had one catch for 14 yards; Al-jay Henderson rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries; and Zakee Swann had nine rushes for 63 yards and a touchdown.

The Blue Knights will visit Montclair on Saturday, Nov. 2, in a SFC crossover game. Montclair is 4-4.
