IRVINGTON, NJ – The Irvington High School football team is getting ready for the upcoming season.
The Blue Knights, under second-year head coach “Smoke” Pierre, have held practices at the IHS Sports Complex since the beginning of the month. They participated in their first scrimmages of the preseason last Saturday at Pope John HS in Sparta, competing against the host school, Mater Dei and West Morris.
IHS returns several key players, led by senior wide receiver/defensive back Jasiah Provillon, who committed to North Carolina State University this summer.
The Blue Knights also welcome senior quarterback Brandon Robinson, a transfer from nearby Columbia HS.
IHS, which finished with an 8-2 record last year, will host Eramus Hall of Brooklyn on August 31 in a preseason game scrimmage.
The regular season kicks off Sept. 7 at Lincoln HS of Jersey City at 7 p.m.
