Irvington HS girls’ basketball team enjoys good start to the season

IRVINGTON, NJ – The Irvington High School girls’ varsity basketball team won its first three games of the season before losing to both Somerville and Roxbury in the Somerville Showcase to move to a 3-2 record on the season.

Tiara Mahorn posted a triple-double with 34 points, 11 steals and 10 assists to lead Irvington to a 65-18 win over North Star on Dec. 18 in a SEC game. Aniyah Massey also had 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Mahorn scored 24 points and had seven steals and Massey recorded eight points, 11 rebounds and four steals in the 44-33 win over West Side on Dec. 20 in a SEC game.

Mahorn had 26 points and nine steals and Massey had three points and 12 rebounds in the 65-31 loss to Somerville on Dec. 27. Herbina Exume had five rebounds.

Mahorn had 23 points, eight assists and six steals and Massey posted 16 points and 21 rebounds in the 57-45 loss to Roxbury on Dec. 28. Celine Ceasar had two points and six rebounds and Jenneha Lowe had four points and four rebounds.
