IRVINGTON – The Irvington High School girls’ varsity basketball team, which started off with an 0-4 record, won three straight before losing to Orange and Memorial of West New York.
Jasmine Williams scored nine points and Atonie Johnson had eight points to lead the Blue Knights to a 27-21 home win over Newark Arts on Jan. 5. Jessica Washington scored seven points; Rhoda Agyemang had two points and Jakiyah Martin had one point.
Washington scored 17 points; Williams scored nine and Johnson had eight points with 14 rebounds in the 43-24 home win over Verona on Jan. 7. Agyemang had four points; Nyoka McKnight had three and Martin had two for IHS, which outscored Verona, 23-7, in the second half.
IHS fell at Orange, 39-27, Saturday, Jan. 9. Williams had 11 points, Johnson had nine; Washington had six and Martin had one. Agyemang and Washington each had 14 points; Williams had 13 and Johnson had eight in the 51-49 loss at Memorial of West New York on Monday, Jan. 11. IHS moved to a 3-5 record.
