Irvington HS girls basketball team seeks state tourney success

IRVINGTON, NJ – The Irvington High School girls basketball team hopes to make a good run in the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 state tournament.

The fifth-seeded Blue Knights will host No. 12 seed Millburn in the first round Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. The winner will face either No. 4 seed Carteret or No. 13 Parsippany Hills in the quarterfinals Feb. 28.

Tiara Mahorn had 32 points, seven assists and steals and fellow senior Briana Lee had 18 points, 11 rebounds, 10 steals and eight assists to lead IHS to a 60-25 home win over Barringer, Feb. 14, in a Super Essex Conference-Freedom Division game. Junior center Aniyah Massey also had six points and 11 rebounds. IHS improved to 16-4 overall and 11-0 in the division.
