Irvington HS girls basketball team thriving, pays homage to ‘Campers’ nickname

IRVINGTON, NJ — The Irvington High School girls basketball team, under head coach Brett Cannon, defeated Belleville, 35-30, Saturday, Jan. 6, at home for its fourth win in a row to improve to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the Super Essex Conference–Independence Division.

During the game, the Blue Knights wore throwback uniforms with the old nickname “Campers.”

In addition, members of the 1985 Irvington girls basketball team were in attendance. The 1985 team won the Group 4 state championship.
