IRVINGTON – The Irvington High School girls’ varsity basketball team hopes to make a good run in the state North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 tournament.

The Lady Blue Knights, under head coach Rashawnah French, received the No. 14 seed and will visit third-seeded West Morris in the first round on Feb. 29.

The Blue Knights defeated Hillside, 39-16, Feb. 8. Jessica Washington, a junior, scored 12 points; senior Atonie Johnson had 10 points and 10 rebounds; senior center Jasmine Williams had nine points and 10 rebounds; and junior Rhoda Agyemang and senior Jakyiah Martin each had four points.

The 18th-seeded Lady Blue Knights lost at 15th-seeded Mount Saint Dominic Academy in the second preliminary round of the Essex County Tournament on Feb. 9 in Caldwell. Washington had 10 points and Johnson had seven.

Washington scored 25 points and Williams had 19 points and 10 rebounds in the 62-45 win at St. Anthony of Jersey City on Feb. 11. Agyemang had eight points and Tiffany Terrell had six for IHS.

Washington scored 22 points and Williams had 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Blue Knights to a 52-38 home win over Dickinson on Feb. 12. Johnson had eight points and 10 rebounds.

IHS moved to a 10-9 record.
