Irvington HS girls’ volleyball team digs up great success

IRVINGTON, NJ – The Irvington High School varsity girls’ volleyball team, under head coach Paul Tortorella, is enjoying a stellar season.

The Blue Knights defeated Weequahic, 25-10, 25-9, Oct. 12, at Mount Vernon Avenue School.

The Blue Knights then lost for only the second time this season when they fell to 19th-seeded West Caldwell Tech, 25-17, 25-8, in the first preliminary round of the Essex County Tournament on Monday, Oct. 16.

IHS, seeded 26th, moved to a 14-2 record this season. The Blue Knights began the season 10-0 before losing to Bayonne on Oct. 2.
