IRVINGTON, NJ – Samara Southerland and Antonia Houndode each had five assists and Sol Berrios and Rayna Smith each had three kills as the Irvington High School girls’ varsity volleyball team defeated Newark Collegiate Academy, 24-26, 25-19, 25-22, Sept. 18 to snap a three-match losing streak.
IHS defeated Montclair Immaculate Conception, 25-16, 25-19, Sept. 20, at home. Berrios had 12 service points, five aces, four digs and three kills; Smith had three kills; Houndode recorded eight assists; and Southerland posted six assists.
Irvington then fell at Nutley, 25-13, 25-14, Sept. 21 to move to a 4-4 record.
